Sprouts had a sale on the steel cut oats in the bulk section, it was 30 cents per pound, normally 99 cents. So of course we stocked up. We usually prepare our oats overnight without cooking them. Well we realized that steel cut oats are so much tougher in texture (also more dense in nutritional value).
So with all these pounds of steel cut oats, I had to find a yummy way to eat them.
- 2.5 C steel cut oats
- 1/3 C coconut oil
- 1/3 C agave nectar
- 1/4 C almonds
- 2 TBS hemp hearts
- 2 TBS chia seed
- 1/4 Tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 Tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Mix all the ingredients in a bowl
- Spread evenly on to the sheet
- Bake for 10 minutes
- Toss it around
- Bake for another 10 minutes
Very simple recipe and easy to make. You can use any seeds, or fruits or nuts in this granola.
